Breast Augmentation Overview

Time, gravity, pregnancy, and significant weight fluctuations can all take a toll on the natural elasticity of your skin, often causing breasts to lose their firmness and youthful position. If you find yourself frustrated by drooping or sagging, and long for the perkier, more lifted silhouette you once had—or have always wanted—you deserve to feel rejuvenated and confident. At NewSkin™ in Bellevue, WA, our board-certified surgeons specialize in custom breast lifts, delivering beautifully elevated, natural-looking results that harmonize with your unique body.

What Is a Breast Lift?

A breast lift, clinically known as a mastopexy, is a highly customized surgical procedure designed to raise and firm the breasts by removing excess, stretched skin and tightening the surrounding tissue.

Unlike breast augmentation, which is performed to add volume, or breast reduction, which decreases the overall size and weight of the tissue, a breast lift focuses entirely on elevating and reshaping the existing breast structure. The procedure can also reposition a downward-pointing nipple and reduce the size of enlarged areolas, creating a more youthful, proportionate aesthetic.

Customized For Your Body: Incision Techniques

Depending on your anatomy and the degree of lifting required, your surgeon will recommend one of several advanced techniques to achieve the sleekest, most natural result:

  • Peri-Areolar (Donut) Lift: Ideal for mild sagging, this technique involves a discreet circular incision around the edge of the areola.
  • Vertical (Lollipop) Lift: Best for moderate sagging, this approach uses an incision around the areola that extends vertically down to the breast crease, allowing for significant reshaping.
  • Anchor (Inverted-T) Lift: Designed for maximum lift and contouring in cases of severe sagging, this technique utilizes an incision around the areola, vertically down the breast, and horizontally along the natural crease.

What Are the Benefits of a Breast Lift?

Undergoing a breast lift at NewSkin™ can be a deeply empowering experience. Our patients consistently report benefits such as:

Recovery & Results

After your breast lift, some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort are expected and entirely manageable with prescribed care. Most NewSkin™ patients feel comfortable returning to work and light daily activities within one to two weeks. To ensure the integrity of your results, rigorous exercise and heavy lifting must be avoided for four to six weeks.

As swelling resolves over the first few months, your beautifully refreshed, elevated results will fully emerge. While your breasts will continue to age naturally over time, the transformative, youthful contours achieved through your mastopexy are designed to be incredibly long-lasting.

By search volume FAQs

Can I get a breast lift and breast implants at the same time?

Yes. A breast lift reshapes and elevates the tissue but does not significantly change the cup size. If you want to address sagging and restore lost volume or increase your overall size, combining a mastopexy with breast augmentation is a very common and highly effective customized treatment plan.

Will a breast lift reduce my cup size?

A breast lift does not significantly reduce the volume of breast tissue. However, because the breasts are gathered, lifted, and made firmer, they may appear slightly smaller or fit differently into your current bras. If you wish to reduce the actual weight and volume of your breasts, a breast reduction would be the appropriate procedure.

Are the scars from a breast lift permanent?

Yes, incisions will result in permanent scars; however, our board-certified surgeons utilize advanced, meticulous suturing techniques designed to minimize their appearance. Over the first year, scars typically fade from red to a soft, faint tone that blends well with your natural skin and can easily be concealed beneath a bra or bikini top.

How long will the results of my breast lift last?

The results of a breast lift are long-lasting, providing a beautifully elevated shape for years to come. However, your body will still respond to the natural aging process, gravity, and potential future weight fluctuations. Maintaining a stable weight is the best way to preserve your sleek, lifted results.

Can I still breastfeed after a breast lift?

Many women are able to successfully breastfeed after a mastopexy, especially if the underlying breast tissue and milk ducts remain largely undisturbed. However, because the nipple and areola are repositioned, there is a risk of disruption. If future breastfeeding is important to you, please discuss this during your consultation so we can tailor our surgical approach accordingly.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples?

Temporary numbness or hypersensitivity in the nipples is normal following surgery as the nerves heal. For the vast majority of our patients, normal sensation gradually returns over the course of a few weeks to several months.
